Providing a range of quality literacy experiences and a print-rich physical environment is an important factor in the facilitation and support of literacy learning. This unit enables children to listen, think and speak using a supplied stimulus to make up stories. Sessions include:

• The storytelling chair
• Cue cards
• A Sikh story
• A Buddhist story
• A Christian story
• A Hindu story
• A Jewish story
• A Muslim story
• A moral story

This unit allows children to enjoy the familiarity and repetition of songs and action rhymes. The songs, rhymes and poems included introduce new words, give opportunities for practising this new vocabulary, and enable children to learn different patterns of language. Sessions include:
